It is the most wonderful time of year- Art Basel! Miami will be full of art, fashion and parties in the beginning of December. We want to help you find your way. We have created an itinerary of all the events, openings, and exhibits we love and think you will too.

Art Basel may technically begin on December 7 th but the real fun starts long before that! Miami will have a ton of events going on to entertain as Art Basel sets up. Here are a few Pre-Basel events that will surely help you get into the artsy mood.

Friday, December 1st

NIGHT

The Alfa Gallery is hosting an opening reception to kick off Art Basel. The reception is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The gallery will feature Transform group exhibition. If you miss it, don’t worry; the exhibit will be open through March 5th, 2018!

Sunday, December 3rd

DAY

The Miami Design District will host a Public Art Tour. The tour will be about an hour long starting at 2:30 p.m. and completely free. This is a great way to get to know the neighborhood and see multiple different world-renowned public art pieces in one afternoon! Art critic, journalist, and educator, Margery Gordon, will lead the tour.

Monday, December 4th

DAY

Calling all fashionistas! WWD will host an exhibit with a tribute to iconic fashion, beauty, and celebrity imagery, called The Art of Fashion at 11 a.m. The exhibit will be open through December 7th. Admission is free to the public; you can register for the event here.

Wednesday, December 6th

NIGHT

The UpCycle Project will showcase an exhibit of Fashion Evolved Couture from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The UpCycle Project strives to raise awareness and creates environmentally conscious and sustainable fashion. The items on display will be made from materials like plastic bottles, cardboard, and live plants!

Wednesday, December 6th

NIGHT

The Museum of Contemporary Art will present an exhibition opening by Swedish artist Jacob Fellander called "How to Unlock a Portal," which challenges perception of time and depth from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Admission is free for Museum of Contemporary Art members, North Miami residents, and Art Basel VIP cardholders. For the general public there will be a fee of $30.

Thursday, December 7th

DAY

Whitewall will host a one-hour Design Talk panel on sustainable design in a digital world at 3 p.m. There will be a welcome cocktail at 2:30 p.m. Sip some Perrier-Jouët champagne and hear some industry heads talk sustainability!

Thursday, December 7th

NIGHT

Antidote will launch Kilometre X Antidote Wynwood Collection. Kilometre Paris is a company curating hand-embroidered products by women in Mexico and India. Complimentary cocktails will be served. The event is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and admission is free. You can register for the event here.

Friday, December 8th

NIGHT

The Young Artists Initiative will host a series of events debuting RAW, a 3-floor immersive pop up exhibit. The group intends to empower emerging artists and generate exposure during this extremely popular week for art. The event starts at 8 p.m. and will feature music by Soul Tide, MaurE, Nala, Paperwater, and GinoG. Tickets include entry to The Sixth, a pop up bar designed to intrigue the senses. Friday, December 8th

NIGHT

French graffiti artist, Oreste, will do a live painting and debut of his new project titled “Aleteia.” From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., hosted by Antidote, his art will be available for purchase. Come buy colorful art and sip on complimentary drinks with music by DJ Eveava. Admission is free; you may register for he event here.

Friday, December 8th

NIGHT

The Pérez Art Museum will host Voyage Cinétique II, featuring world-renowned kinetic artist Carlos Cruz-Diez and designer Oscar Carvallo. The visual journey starts at 8 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. Admission to this event is free; you may RSVP here.

Saturday, December 9th

DAY

Come show your girl-power! Antidote will host an event designed to unwind, cool down, and recharge, from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. with AWOM Lab, for women by women. In the morning guests will have access to free juice, coffee, music, and Wi-Fi! Happy hour will start at 3 p.m. and features a custom photo booth. Come hangout, have a cocktail or even just charge your phone!

Sunday, December 10th

DAY

Miami Supercar Rooms is hosting Promenade Auto Wynwood from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. More than sixty-six of today’s finest cars considered “road-art” will be showcased on the three shut down blocks along NW 1st Court. The event is open to people of all ages and there is an award ceremony at the end. Come check out some vintage art cars! Admission is free and open to the public.

Monday, December 11th

DAY

You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream! What better way to end Art Basel than with a sweet treat? This is the exclusive sneak peek, Art Basel opening of the new Miami Museum of Ice Cream. Tickets cost $98 and are available to people of all ages. You can purchase tickets for this event here.
